Personal Development

Chapter 06

Personal Development

Grant’s approach to personal development rejects conventional self-help entirely. For him, growth isn’t about fixing yourself—it’s about removing the bullshit that’s blocking who you already are.

Self-Development Is Release, Not Addition

Most people misunderstand what personal development actually means.

“Self-development isn’t ADDING things. It’s about RELEASING traps & letting ur natural self FREE”

Source

Grant saw himself as the same person he’d always been. The difference wasn’t that he became someone new—it was that he freed himself from insecurities and beliefs that didn’t align with reality. Modern him was always there, just trapped under layers of bullshit.

The work isn’t accumulation. It’s subtraction. You don’t need to become more—you need to remove what’s covering your natural power.

This reframes everything. You’re not broken. You’re buried.

Closers Can Only Close to Their Level of Self-Development

Grant made his money in sales, and he learned a brutal truth early:

“Closers cant handle objections cuz the bullshit the client is telling the closer is the same bullshit the closer is dealing with in their own mind. A closer can only close to HIS level of self development”

Source

If you can’t get past your own objections, you can’t handle someone else’s. If you’re secretly afraid you’re not good enough, you’ll crumble when a prospect says the same thing.

This applies far beyond sales. Your external results are capped by your internal state. You can’t out-technique your own psychology.

The fix? Go get your heart broken. Quit your job with no safety net. Do the things that force you to confront yourself. Real self-development happens in the arena, not in your journal.

The Path Reveals Itself Only After You Start

Grant had zero patience for overthinking.

“THE CLARITY U WANT IS ONLY GAINED THROUGH ACTION. THE PATH REVEALS ITSELF ONLY AFTER U START.”

Source

School trains you to get everything perfect before you begin. Real life doesn’t work that way. You can’t see the next step until you take the first one.

Most people leave massive potential on the table because they won’t start shooting intuition-based shots. They wait for certainty that will never come.

The system is the only thing in life with a clear path. Everything worth doing requires you to walk into the unknown and let it unfold.

Detach Results from Identity

When you’re learning something new, rejection feels personal. Grant learned to separate himself from outcomes:

“Instead of viewing rejection as an attack on ur personal identity - view it as an objective science experiment. Remove yourself (as a soul) from the equation - view only ur actions.”

Source

Inputs equal your words on the call. Outputs equal yes and close, or no and rejection. Either way, ask why.

This is the difference between people who improve and people who quit. Failures aren’t about you—they’re about the strategy. Adjust the inputs and try again.

You’re only offended by what you’re afraid might be true. If you know who you are, external noise becomes data instead of attacks.

You Can Fake It Until the Proof Builds

The concept of “fake it till you make it” gets misunderstood. Grant saw it differently:

“When you ‘fake it’ you are quite literally acting it out. Which means what you’re ‘faking’ is inside of you. It’s already a part of you. What is lagging is attaching said actions to ur identity. Must build proof”

Source

If you can imagine it, it’s already in you. The action proves it exists. You’re not lying—you’re pulling forward a version of yourself that hasn’t been validated yet.

The gap is between who you are and who you identify as being. You close that gap by doing the thing repeatedly until your identity catches up to your actions.

Build Your Own Operating System

Grant emphasized developing your own principles instead of borrowing everyone else’s.

“You MUST develop your own personal philosophy on how to navigate through life or you’re going to be perpetually confused and hating your own life and others around you.”

Source

Most people tour other systems without ever building their own. They see someone living one way and adopt it without checking if it fits. Then they preach it to others while secretly knowing they’re a fraud.

This creates a loop: espousing values you don’t believe in, judging others for things you don’t even do yourself, dying as a K-mart shadow version of someone you met who had more courage.

The answer is finding your own sauce and developing it. You need a personal operating system that lets you say yes or no from a place of logic and reason, not borrowed shoulds.

Answer the Call Inside You

One of Grant’s core principles was trusting your intuition even when it doesn’t make logical sense.

“Answer the call inside of you. This is the foundation of self-respect (aka fulfillment). You have an intuition as to what you should be going for. But you’re scared.”

Source

Your brain tells you it’s unreasonable, insane, not worth it. But the window to act on your soul’s calling is finite. The safe route will always be there. Your window won’t.

Ask yourself: if you died today, what’s the one thing you should have done but didn’t? Do that.

This is how you earn self-respect. Not by achieving the thing, but by having the courage to go for it regardless of what others think.

Becoming a Man Requires Suffering

Grant saw suffering as the identity catalyst.

“A boy is confident, a man is certain. As a young, ambitious dude you know you have the fire inside of you. The problem though (while young) is that you haven’t seen exactly what you’re made of yet. You THINK but don’t KNOW.”

Source

You have to prove to yourself that you are who you think you are. In today’s world, there’s no single path to do this. You have to create your own test and pass it.

Do what scares you. Then do it over and over again. That’s how you become certain instead of just confident.

Most men never impose a self-test. They stay psychological teenagers well into their forties because they never forced themselves to find out what they’re made of.

Everything Can Be a Practice Facility

Grant turned every mundane task into training.

“When I had my first sales job & was banging 400 cold calls/day - each REP I put in wasn’t me ‘trying to sell them something’…. It was me practicing my tonality. It was me practicing managing my internal energy.”

Source

He practiced resilience against negative energy attacks. He tested mental models to rationalize shitty work as worth it. Every call was a training ground.

You can make anything worthwhile if you view it through a personal development lens. The job isn’t the point—the skills you’re building are.

You’re Operating at 10% of Your Potential

Grant believed most people have no idea how much they’re capable of.

“Friendly reminder that you’re operating at 10% (MAXIMUM) of your God-given potential. You can achieve so fucking much if simply commit to dropping the bullshit distractions that aren’t serving you.”

Source

The work is waiting in the form of sacrificed pleasure. Cut the chains. Stop wasting potential because you can’t discipline yourself.

You’re six months away from changing your life forever if you lock in. The question is whether you’ll actually do it.

The Lone Wolf Never Wins

Despite all this talk of self-reliance, Grant knew you couldn’t do it alone.

“The reason the lone wolf never wins is because his delusions are never challenged. Think you have REAL potential inside of you? You’ll get your answer when someone powerful comes into your life & you either transcend up with them or watch them surpass & swing above your head”

Source

Your delusions need to be tested. You need people who will challenge your bullshit and pull you higher. Real potential reveals itself in proximity to other powerful people.

If you can’t keep up when someone enters your life who’s actually about it, you learn exactly where you actually stand versus where you thought you stood.

The Shift from Boy to Man

The transition requires you to answer the call and face uncertainty.

“The ‘period of separation & isolation’ required to go from BOY to MAN is inherently built into the undertaking of your calling”

Source

When you choose your path instead of what people want for you, those closest to you might not talk to you for a while. Nature designed it this way. The fear of letting others down isn’t actually the barrier—behind that door is relief.

You cut the cord and enter the real world. You learn to hunt on your own. You learn your style, what works, what doesn’t. Eventually you learn yourself.

Then you reach back out. The relationships repair, often stronger than before. You don’t need a $15,000 program to get your man card. You just need to stand on your own two feet.

Key Principles

Self-development is subtraction, not addition. You’re not broken—you’re buried under bullshit beliefs and insecurities. Remove what’s blocking your natural power instead of trying to become someone new.

Your external results are capped by your internal state. You can’t close above your level of self-development. You can’t out-technique your own unresolved psychology. Fix yourself first.

Clarity comes from action, not analysis. The path reveals itself only after you start. Stop waiting for certainty and start shooting intuition-based shots into the unknown.

Detach outcomes from identity. View results as data, not attacks on your soul. Failures aren’t personal—they’re feedback on your strategy. Adjust and try again.

Build your own operating system. Develop personal principles instead of borrowing everyone else’s. Find your own sauce or die a shadow version of someone braver.

Suffering is the identity catalyst. You must prove to yourself what you’re made of. Do what scares you repeatedly until you’re certain, not just confident.

Answer your soul’s calling. The thing you’re afraid to pursue is exactly what you need to do. Your window is finite. The safe path will always be there.

You’re operating at 10% of your potential. Drop distractions, lock in for six months, and watch your life transform. The work is waiting in sacrificed pleasure.

The lone wolf never wins. Your delusions need challenging. Find powerful people who pull you higher and expose where you actually stand versus where you think you stand.

True masculine love looks like intensity. Great fathers attack weakness, not the person. They prepare you through difficult training so you’re ready for anything life throws at you.
